Dr.K.N.Krishnan, BSc (Engg.), ME, Ph.D. Dr. K. N. Krishnan took over as Principal of Muffakham Jah College of Engineering and Technology on 1st January, 2013. He had worked as Professor of Mechanical engineering from August 2009 to December 2012. Till July 2009, he was serving BHEL R&D, Hyderabad in different capacities. He had joined BHEL as Senior Engineer in July 1978 and retired as Additional General Manager in July 2009.
He had taken the Engineering degree from University of Kerala in 1970. He completed ME from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 1972 with specialization in Heat power engineering. He did his PhD from IIT, Madras in 1976. After working as Lecturer in NIT, Calicut (REC, Calicut, Kerala), he joined BHEL in July, 1978.
While serving in BHEL, he was working in the specialized area of ‘Heat transfer in Electrical machines, specially in Turbo generators and Hydro generators’ and has contributed almost 50 technical reports and developed 45 Computer programs for BHEL. Being indigenous and original, 12 of these programs have been copyrighted by BHEL. He has also worked in M/s Kraftwerk Union, Mulheim, Germany from November 1984 to January 1987, specializing in thermal problems in Turbo generators. He had made 13 technical reports and 15 copyrighted computer programs, while in M/s KWU.
In addition, he has expertise in the fields of ‘Transformer cooling’, ‘Heat exchanger design’, ‘Thermal design of Super conducting Generators’, ‘Flow net work design and Analysis’, ‘Cooling of Electronic equipments’ etc.
He was Head of the Heat Transfer laboratory of BHEL R&D at the time of retirement.
