Basic Sciences & Humanities

About the Department

The department, which serves as the cornerstone of engineering, is in charge of bolstering the foundational knowledge of the field that links topics with broad applicability including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English. The department has twenty regular faculty members, out of which 15 faculty members hold doctorates degree and the rest are pursuing Ph.D. These faculty members are highly experienced and actively involved in R&D work.

The faculty of Physics section developed world first working replica of Sir J.C Bose mm wave experiment. The Physics faculty has published 40 research papers in Scopus/web of science indexing journals. The faculty of Chemistry section designed, developed and completed the patent project titled “Process and System Efficient Biodiesel Production” which has been granted Indian Patent for 20 years. The faculty of Mathematics has published about 35 research papers in various National and International Journals. They also published 3 books. The English section has set a bench mark with all faculty holding doctorates with more than 18 years of teaching experience and good number of publications.

The BS&H department is organizing National Science Day and Quiz competition every year. The department is active in organizing Webinars, Workshops, Guest lectures etc., every year. Each section has well equipped laboratories viz. Physics lab, Chemistry lab, English lab with latest computers and software, supported by trained and qualified technical staff .

Vision

To build foundation for development of the Institute by igniting and nurturing enthusiasm, interests and passion, in the study of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English in professional courses, as a part of curricula.

Mission

To mentor the young people and assist them in discovering their skills through committed instruction, innovative teaching strategies, and dedicated teaching.

Head of Department

Dr. Abdul Majeed is a Professor of Mathematics and Head of Basic Sciences & Humanities at MJCET. He obtained M.Sc degree from Osmania University in the year 1995 and secured university second rank. He pursued both M.Phil and Ph.D from Kakatiya university. He has a vast teaching experience of twenty-five years in various engineering colleges. He has published 20 research papers in various national and international journals and 3 engineering mathematics books. His area of research graph theory and operations research.
