The Department ensures that the English language learning process is enriched through well- designed assignment topics, regular quiz sessions, use of interactive multimedia in the classroom along with formative and summative evaluations, seminars and guest lectures by experts from academia and industry.
The English Department focuses on improving students' communication skills through its well-equipped English language laboratories. While the CALL Lab provides full-fledged computer-assisted language learning, in which students gain a thorough understanding of phonetics and received pronunciation, the Interactive, multi-media Labs allow students to develop an array of skills through public speaking, group discussion, debate, and paper presentation, to name a few. Students learn to express and defend views in group conversations, to value ideas other than their own, and to work together to reach a measured consensus. Students also develop critical thinking, courteous dissent, and coherent arguments delivered in a clear and engaging manner through debates. Overall, the programme prepares students to be industry ready.
The Department actively participates in ADSOPHOS, MJCET's annual Technical Festival, by hosting a variety of literary-themed activities for students. The events provide an opportunity to get an exposure necessary to test students talents and present a scope to improve their personalities through participation in various competitions.
