Robotics

Robotics is the branch of technology that deals with the design, construction, operation, and application of robots, as well as computer systems for their control, sensory feedback, and information processing. The design of a given robotic system will often incorporate principles of Mechanical engineering, Electronic engineering and Computer science particularly Artificial intelligence. The study of biological systems often plays a key role in the Systems engineering of a project and also forms the field of Bionics. The mathematical expression of a biological system may give rise to control algorithms for example, or by observing how a process is handled by nature

The Robotics Center, MJCET was inaugurated on 28th of February, 2008, by Dr. Basheer Ahmed, Phd.(Robotics and Automation) Principal MJCET. This initiative was taken to offer a helping hand to all those interested in Robotics and bring together the students of all disciplines across the. RC is guided by the Robotics mentor Mr. Arifuddin Sohel, Associate Professor in Electronics and Communication Department.

The concept of creating machines that can operate autonomously dates back to classical times, but research into the functionality and potential uses of robots did not grow substantially until the 20th century. Throughout history, robotics has been often seen to mimic human behavior, and often manage tasks in a similar fashion. Today, robotics is a rapidly growing field as technological advances continue, research, design, and building new robots serve various practical purposes, whether domestically, commercially, or military. Many robots do jobs that are hazardous to people such as defusing bombs, mines and exploring shipwrecks.

The Robotics Center of MJCET conducts workshops and interactive sessions regarding the specific concepts of robotics which will help the members to go ahead with their projects. The main aim of the center is to encourage the students to participate in the robotic competitions going on in and around the state and the country.

Robotics Center provides young tech enthusiasts with opportunities to share their knowledge and hone their skills. It has been instrumental in setting up Robotics Clubs at various other colleges. The best from the center are chosen through various selection processes to represent our college at Robocon. Team ROBOCON of MJCET has been participating in the ROBOCON contest held every year at MIT, Pune since 2010.
