Computer Science and Engineering

About the Department

Established in the year 1986, the CSE Department offers a 4-Year BE (CSE) Degree with annual intake of 480. The computer center has 12 laboratories catering to the needs of BE (CSE) students. The computer centre infrastructure consists of 6 servers (Compaq, IBM and Wipro), 339 desktop computer systems complemented by 36 licensed software like Microsoft Products under Campus and School Agreement (CASA), Rational Enterprise Suite (RES), Rational Software Architect (RSA), Macro Media Studio, Linux, COGNOS Data Mining Tool, WEKA Data Mining Tool, KEIL Embedded System Software, QUALNET Network Simulator, MATLAB, C/C++/Java IDE, etc along with 65 network components (LAN/WAN), 100 Microprocessor Trainer kits, 38 Embedded System kits.

The Department has established “Centre for Innovative Computing” Lab in October 2015 with 60- seater capacity. This lab has All-in-One computer systems with latest configuration and internet connection to cater to the needs of students. This lab is used for conducting training programs for the students and faculty viz. Microsoft Technology associate (MTA) Certification under Microsoft IT Academy (MSITA), IIT-Bombay Workshops, etc just to name a few.

The Department has established “Khan Lateef Mohammed Khan (Centre for Advanced Computing & Informatics)” Lab with a 66 seater capacity and 66 Latest All in One Computer Systems.

Internet access is provided through a 500 Mbps leased line from Pioneer powers.

In 2010, New Programme named M.Tech. (CSE) was started with an intake strength of 18, which was further increased in 2024 to 30. The M.Tech. computer center has 2 laboratories catering to the needs of the course. For assisting projects licensed software like MATLAB and Qualnet are made available, along with other open sources.

In 2018, Ph.D(CSE) research centre affiliated to OU was established with 6 research supervisors.

The Computer Science and Engineering Department has 36 well experienced and qualified faculty members. Among them there are 7 Doctorates and 17 are pursuing their Doctorate degrees.

Head of Department

Dr. Syed Shabbeer Ahmad was born on 1st April, 1976. He received his B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from Sri Venkateswara University in the year 1999 (Reg. No: 295643). He obtained his M.Tech in Information Technology from Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Science in 2004 (Reg. No: 1022010330). . He was awarded Ph.D in Computer Science and Engineering in the area of Image Processing in 2015 from Shri Venkateshwara University (Reg. No: SVU11020241) & he received his Post-Doctoral Fellow (CSE) from Srinivas University, Mangalore, Karnataka in the year 2024 (Reg. No: 23SUPDR16). He is currently working as a Professor and Head, Department of CSE in MJCET, Hyderabad.

He is a ratified professor in Computer Science and Engineering from JNTUH, Hyderabad and Osmania University, Hyderabad. He was also ratified as a Ph.D research supervisor from Osmania University, Hyderabad in the field of Computer Science and Engineering in the year 2018. He has published 25 research papers in various National/International Journals and Conferences. He has guided around 40 B.Tech Projects,20 M.Tech Projects and is presently guiding 4 Osmania University Ph.D scholars, in the areas of Machine Learning, Data Science,Cloud Computing, Optimization of Algorithms,Image Processing, Neural Networks and Data Mining. Out of four Ph.D. Scholars three have successfully submitted their thesis.

Post-Doctoral Fellow (CSE).

He has a teaching experience of 25 years and worked in various reputed NBA and NAAC Accredited Engineering Colleges in Hyderabad. He exhibited commendable administrative skills as the Head of the Department and Principal in different Engineering colleges affiliated to OU, JNTUH & JNTUA. His areas of research include Image processing, Data Science, Quantum Computing, Cyber Security, Cloud Computing, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing and Optimization Algorithms.

As a passionate erudite scholar he has delivered many distinguished lectures in various workshops and Faculty Development Programs in the latest areas of ML, DL, Algorithms, Data Mining, and Information Security. His papers bagged the Best Paper awards in reputed International Conferences on various occasions. He published a patent on “A Security Framework Integrated with Agile Software Development Process” through Intellectual Property of India Application Number: 202141034412(Date of Filing: 30/07/2021, Publication Date: 06/08/2021). He possesses impressive expertise in framing Syllabus and Academic curriculums for Computer Science as per the latest developments in the Software Industry.

He is the recipient of several prestigious awards and grants for his immense contribution in the field of Engineering Education. He had been the panel member for staff selection committee and BOS member for various colleges and Universities. He was a part of the steering committee for the international conferences. He is influential in entering MoUs with different industries/organizations to meet the demand of training and project development on current technologies. Under his guidance innumerable Faculty Development Programs and In- house training programs were conducted to meet the requirements of current industry and research trends. He is a pioneer in initiating innovative activities in the CSE Department at MJCET to train students on latest technologies like Web development using PHP, Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Data Science. He initiated 24 hrs.Hackathons, summer internships and skill development programs for students in association with Computer Society of India, Microsoft Student Society and IEEE-CS to make them equipped with robust programming and technical skills. With profound knowledge, commendable administrative skill and keen interest in building human network, Prof. Syed Shabbeer Ahmad has built a strong association with the Alumni. It is solely his initiative that some of the alumni even came forward to deliver the sessions on recent trends in the industry.
