About the Department

The department was established in the year 2000 with an initial intake of 60 to cater to the needs of IT industry. The current student intake is 120. The curriculum of the BE (IT) 4-year programme is framed as per the guidelines of Osmania University and the current Industry requirements.

The department has 5 computer laboratories equipped with latest computer systems and software meeting to the curriculum requirements along with separate Basic Electronics and Microprocessor Lab, coupled with qualified teaching faculty and staff. The software in the labs include Microsoft Products under Campus and School Agreement (CASA), Rational Enterprise Suite (RES), Rational Software Architect (RSA), Macro Media Studio, WEKA Data Mining Tool, KEIL Embedded System Software, MATLAB, C/C++/Java IDE, Operating Systems (Linux, Windows etc), Net Beans IDE, Web Sphere, Tom Cat, Web Logic, Glass Fish etc just to name a few.

In addition the College has an established Centre for Innovative Computing Lab with 60 seating capacity and latest All-in-One computer systems with Internet connection used for conducting advanced certification courses viz. Microsoft Technology associate (MTA) Certification under Microsoft IT Academy (MSITA), IIT-Bombay Workshops, etc..

Facilities like Internet access (30 Mbps), Digital library with access to online IEEE journals, online database viz., MCGRAW HILL, SCIENCE DIRECT, KNIMBUS, SPRINGERLINK, printed magazines (Digit, Chip) and journals, NPTEL lectures, etc are also provided.

Head of Department

Prof. Mousmi has completed her BE in Information Technology, ME in Electronics and Doctorate of Philosophy degree in Information Technology in 2004, 2009 and 2014 respectively. She has 17 years 6 months of teaching experience including research experience. She has worked in Saudi Arabia and South Korea as a Researcher. She is the ratified research supervisor from Osmania University in the field of Artificial Intelligence, Big Data Computing, Machine Learning and cloud computing domains. She has one national and two International patents to her name. She is the editor of two books published in Springer Nature Publications. Mousmi has 22 research papers in Journals and International Conferences. She is NPTEL- MJCET Single Point of Contact (SPOC) and represents MJCET at IIT Madras. She has been six times recognised as ACTIVE SPOC from NPTEL Team, IIT Madras. She is also a senior member of IEEE and long term IEEE Volunteer with experience at IEEE Technical society of IEEE Computational Intelligence society, IEEE GRSS, Hyderabad Section, IEEE Region 10 and IEEE MGA. She has been positioned in IEEE Region level, IEEE MGA and at Hyderabad Section. She received external funding of 4750$ from IEEE to complete the Humanitarian project on "Smart Waste Management for Covid -19 from PHCs and villages in remote areas.

Under her leadership as Chapter Chair of IEEE CIS/GRSS, she had received total 25000 USD to organise Summer schools of IEEE GRSS. She was Publication Chair and Technical Program Chair of several IEEE International conferences. She is the recipient of 2020 Significant volunteer service Award of IEEE Hyderabad Section in recognition and appreciation of valued services and contributions. Currently, she is working as Professor and Head of the department of Information Technology department at MJCET.
